2022 Workshop: Climate-Adaptive Population Supplementation
In August 2022, NE CASC convened a meeting of 35 managers and researchers to discuss how trait diversity within species can contribute to managing priority populations under the challenges of climate change. The main goal of the workshop was to co-develop the concept of Climate-Adaptive Population Supplementation, which aligns climate-associated traits of propagated species with the environmental conditions that they are expected to experience in the future.
2021 Workshops: Future of Aquatic Flows Year 0 Summary
N CASC in collaboration with NE CASC coordinated three “Year 0” webinars to launch the cross-CASC theme, Future of Aquatic Flows, in March, April, and May 2021. The goals of these webinars were to identify and discuss: Regional research themes and mentors for the FoAF postdoc cohort. Management themes and manager-partners for FoAF projects. National themes for a national-scale FoAF synthesis. Logistical information about FoAF funding and how to submit proposals for this funding opportunity.
2021 Northeast Regional Climate Adaptation Science Symposium
The 2021 Northeast Regional Climate Adaptation Science Symposium featured 55 speakers and drew widespread participation from the climate adaptation science community, attracting more than 520 participants from 60 state or federal agencies, 50 NGOs, 40 academic institutions, 10 Tribal nation agencies, 5 Inter-Tribal organizations and 25 states. All sessions were recorded and are available for viewing.
2020 Workshop: Biological Thresholds in the Context of Climate Change
In Fall 2020, more than 160 scientists, resource managers and NGO staff assembled virtually for a three-day workshop investigating the challenge posed by potential climate-changed induced crossing biological thresholds, tipping points in which minor climate alterations produce large and undesirable responses. Many sessions were recorded and are available for viewing along with a summary of major workshop conclusions.
2017 Regional Science Meeting
This three-day meeting brought together NE CASC investigators and partner stakeholders to reflect on their collaborative research to develop actionable adaptation strategies for the NE region. The program included presentations, panel discussions and needs assessments for incorporating climate science into management of priority natural resources.
2016 Workshop: Student & Early-Career Training Workshop
This two-day workshop brought together students and postdoctoral researchers from across the CASC network to enhance their skills in identifying and building productive relationships with stakeholders, developing actionable science, and communicating their research.
