Focusing on Sedimentary Processes: my research interests broadly revolve around coastal geology, climate change dynamics, and landscape restoration. By utilizing sediment cores, I aim to explore land use history and landscape recovery from natural disasters such as hurricanes, wildfires, and flooding events. Sampling foraminifera, macrocharcoal, and fossilized pollen help me elucidate past environmental conditions. Highlighting Indigenous land use history defined by sediment records encourages my research to learn from the past. By understanding this history, we can gain insight on proper land management techniques to be applied in future restoration efforts. Surficial sampling and sediment trapping methods are employed to investigate present day marsh environments to complement restoration.
