Research Interests

My research lies at the intersection of human dimensions and fisheries science, with a strong emphasis on data-informed strategies for sustainable fisheries management in the context of environmental change. I am particularly interested in how stakeholder behavior, data quality, and governance structures influence resource use and conservation outcomes across different geographies. My work primarily focuses on recreational fisheries in the United States, where I use statistical and spatial methods to explore angler diversity, discard behavior, and engagement with regulations in the summer flounder fishery—a species whose distribution is shifting with changing ocean conditions. I also examine the reliability of fish landing data in West African coastal communities, highlighting how data limitations can undermine adaptive responses to climate stressors. Through this work, I combine quantitative tools including multivariate statistics, spatial analysis (GIS), and stakeholder-informed insights to contribute to fisheries management that is both inclusive and resilient to climate change.
