Research Interests
My research uses environmental DNA and other genomic methods to measure and describe patterns of biological diversity in freshwater ecosystems. I use eDNA metabarcoding methods to describe patterns of aquatic community composition across spatially and temporally heterogenous landscapes, and I am particularly interested in how human impacts (i.e. climate change, dams, etc.) influence these patterns. I am also interested in using eDNA methods to rapidly and effectively characterize population-level genetic variability. I have used or plan to use these methods to study aquatic invertebrates in Grand Canyon, USA, cichlid fishes in Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania, and brook trout in the Adirondack region, USA.
