Education

B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, 1989
M.S. in Forestry and Wildlife Management, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, 1996
Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, 2016

Research Interests

I am an aquatic ecologist working at the interface between ecology and evolutionary biology. My research examines the influence of environmental change on population persistence, biodiversity, community structure, and ecosystem function. I use multidisciplinary approaches including animal mark-detection, genomics, stable isotopes, fish otolith microchemistry, and field and common garden experiments to explore questions regarding anthropogenic disturbance, such as habitat fragmentation, habitat degradation, and climate change.

Additional Information

I founded Golden Ecology (GEco) in Oct. 2020 to better incorporate science from the fields of ecology and evolutionary biology into sustainable management practices. I work with academic institutes, government agencies, and consulting firms to forward understanding, theory, and practice of sustainable ecosystem management.
