Overview

Hannah Baranes is a postdoctoral researcher at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. She studies extreme flooding and sediment transport in coastal environments. Some of her projects include:

  • Feedbacks between tidal dynamics and sediment transport in mesotidal marshes, and their effect on tidal marsh integrity and resilience
  • Tidally-driven interannual variation in extreme sea level probabilities in the Gulf of Maine
  • Interseismic coupling-based earthquake and tsunami scenarios for the Nankai Trough, southwestern Japan
