Research Interests

Hailey’s research focuses on increasing our understanding of the causes of population changes in commercially fished marine species to help us sustain resilient fisheries in the face of climate change. She has a particular interest in bridging the gap between research on species biology and research on fisheries management, and doing science that can be translated into management and policy. In her current research, she is using a variety of methodologies, from histological analysis of ovarian tissue to population dynamics modelling and applications of self-organizing mapping machine learning techniques, to improve our understanding of the drivers of recruitment variation in summer flounder.
