Workshop: Future Aquatic Invaders of the Northeast

Sunday, December 4, 2022
Snakehead

Investigators for the NE CASC project, “Future aquatic invaders of the Northeast U.S.: how climate change, human vectors, and natural history could bring southern and western species north,” invite the NE CASC community to participate in a virtual workshop on January 26, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 AM ET. The project is led by Wesley Daniel, Ian Pfingsten and Catherine Jarnevich of the U.S. Geological Survey.

The workshop will provide an update on project status and discuss the evolving list of potentially invasive freshwater species that researchers and managers have suggested for assessment. A preliminary list was developed at an initial project meeting–attended by 50 participants–held last October. The project team will conduct a vote to pare the list down to 100 species that it will assess in terms of invasive potential over the next 50 years. Interested parties who have not yet contributed to the list but wish to do so can add their suggestions here: https://colostate-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/g/personal/pengel_colostate_edu/EV1Zg3yhc5lMqUu1TqqdNaABtqllIVAyjTGyTAD7lGIcKw?rtime=bYAtRhPE2kg.

The workshop will be conducted as a Microsoft Teams meeting.
